Why Hire a CGA

Looking for a business leader with top credentials, technology savvy, and high ethics and standards? Look no further than a CGA.

As a consultant or an employee, a CGA can bring all of these qualifications to public or private organizations on top of a comprehensive range of value-added financial, accounting, and management consulting services.

Education

CGAs complete a challenging and comprehensive nationally standardized professional education program. CGAs also acquire a minimum of two years’ practical experience in the accounting field of their choice prior to being certified. This combination of education and experience means that CGAs are business-ready.

Technology

The CGA Program of Professional Studies is one of the most technologically advanced accounting education programs in North America. Course content is delivered via CD-ROM and online learning modules, and students work with industry-standard software applications. CGAs bring the highest level of technological competence to their work, meeting the demands of today’s high-tech work environment.

Testing

CGAs must pass a series of national exams as well as an integrated final examination before they are certified. These exams are designed to test students’ comprehension to ensure they are ready to meet the challenges they will face as professional accountants.

Standards

The provincial and territorial CGA Associations set tough certification standards for members and require students to have a university degree before graduating from the CGA Program of Professional Studies.  A well-rounded and comprehensive education means that CGAs are accountants who can analyze and really understand the needs of business and their profession.

Professionalism

CGAs promote professionalism through adherence to a Code of Ethical Principles and Rules of Conduct, by undertaking mandatory continuing professional development programs, and through compulsory practice reviews for members working in public practice. These measures are designed to ensure CGAs offer the best services possible in today’s rapidly evolving professional environment.
